Molly McGuire, Esq.

Broward County State Attorney's Office

Molly McGuire Bio

Molly McGuire was born and raised in Rochester, NY.  After graduating from the New England School of Law in 2010, she accepted a job as a prosecutor with the Broward County State Attorney’s Office and moved to South Florida.  In addition to working in County Court and as a line prosecutor in the Felony Trial Unit, ASA McGuire has also worked in a variety of specialized units during her career with the State Attorney’s Office.  These specialized units have included the Domestic Violence Unit, the Sexual Battery Unit, and the Career Criminal Unit.  During those years, ASA McGuire prosecuted dozens of very serious and complicated cases.  She developed a reputation within the legal community as being a “brilliant trial attorney” and as being very ethical and honest when dealing with defense attorneys.

As a result of her outstanding accomplishments and reputation as a talented trial lawyer, ASA McGuire was hand-picked by the elected  State Attorney for Broward County (Michael Satz) to become a member of the elite Homicide Trial Unit in the summer of 2017. During her time in the Homicide Trial Unit, ASA McGuire has successfully prosecuted numerous high-profile murder cases, including several death penalty cases.  In addition to her daily responsibilities as a prosecutor in the Homicide Trial Unit, ASA McGuire has regularly volunteered her time to help out the next generation of law enforcement officers and prosecutors by providing them with advanced and specialized training in the areas of Homicide Investigations, How to Cross-Examine a Witness, Interviews and Interrogations, Search Warrants and many other topics.

During her time in the Homicide Trial Unit, ASA McGuire has taken a special interest in cases dealing with accidental overdose deaths.  Holding the members of Drug Trafficking Organizations and individual drug dealers criminally responsible for these types of deaths has been a big priority.  As a result of the extensive research that she has conducted on these types of cases, the time that she has invested studying the established Case Law regarding this issue, and the numerous accidental overdose cases that she has personally prosecuted as murder cases, ASA McGuire has become a leading voice and well-respected subject matter expert in this specific area of the law.

In July of 2025, ASA McGuire received one of the highest honors of her professional career when she and fellow Semper Veritas Instructor Stephen Zaccor received the prestigious award for Prosecutor of the Year from the Florida Gang Investigators Association.  ASA McGuire and ASA Zaccor received this award for their prosecution of a local criminal street gang that resulted in a thirty-three count RICO indictment that was returned in October of 2024. This case involves the indictment of 8 suspected members of a violent criminal street gang.  In total, the indictment includes 8 counts of first-degree murder, more than a dozen counts of attempted murder, racketeering, and a variety of additional firearm offenses.

Outside of work, ASA McGuire is the mother of two young children and the wife of a Captain at the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
